Lone Soldiers
Who Are They?
Please help us provide them with the love and care they deserve, your donation helps us keep the Bayit (Home) and Guidance Center running.
Lone combat soldiers are young men and woman who have chosen to leave everything behind and come to Israel on their own to enlist in the Israeli army.
They are very idealistic and motivated, but their army service is often very difficult because they do not have the logistical help and loving support that families usually provide.
These problems are shared by soldiers from disadvantaged backgrounds and broken homes in Israel, and they too are recognized as lone soldiers by the IDF.
Their Difficulties
As soon as soldiers come home on leave for the weekend, the countdown begins to get everything organized before they have to return to their units early on Sunday morning.
Lone combat soldiers often can’t rent an apartment because they don’t receive enough income from the army. When they are on leave they have nowhere to go that offers them a family environment.
They must seek out places to stay, figure out a way to do their laundry, grab an inexpensive meal, or take care of personal errands. Instead of using this precious free time to catch up on some sleep and well-earned relaxation, they must fend for themselves.

Lone combat soldiers from abroad, like lone combat soldiers from disadvantaged backgrounds and from broken homes, need both practical and emotional support. With no supportive family, the pressure on these boys and girls are immense.
HaBayit shel Benji gives these lone soldiers the practical physical support (their own room, meals, laundry etc) and also the warmth, care and attention they deserve.
